About Wartburg Lutheran Services

For more than 130 years, Wartburg Lutheran Services, Inc., has been a ministry of healing, hospitality, and community through partnerships in caring. We are a Social Ministry Organization of the Lutheran Church that serves individuals regardless of religious or ethnic background, offering compassionate care through our growing community of nursing homes, adult day health care programs, home delivered meals, long term home health care services, and independent housing for seniors.

Wartburg builds Life Enhancing Communities to help elderly and disabled individuals live life to the fullest, without sacrificing their dignity, their individuality, or their independence.

The People and Communities We Serve
A recognized and respected Social Ministry Organization, Wartburg offers its services every day of the week to more than 1700 people at seven sites throughout eastern New York State. Wartburg’s ministries include:

  • nursing homes
  • adult day health care programs
  • mobile meals
  • long term home health care programs
  • independent housing for seniors

All services are provided to all people regardless of religious or ethnic background.

An Agency of the Church
Wartburg is a social ministry agency of the Lutheran Church. It enjoys official recognition by and affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. A consortium of Lutheran congregations elects Wartburg's Board of Directors at an annual meeting of its delegates.

Vision
Recognizing the major shift that our society needs to make in its relationship to the elderly, Wartburg has made a commitment that is reflected in its vision statement. By 2010, Wartburg Lutheran Services will transform long term care by creating Life-Enhancing Communities. Life-Enhancing Communities means less institutionalization, more individuality; less loss of freedom for those who need care, more emphasis on living life to the full. Life-Enhancing Communities will offer a full range of medical, social, and spiritual services and, at the same time, preserve and sustain the dignity of every individual.
