Extended Family Lutheran Care Center's Foster Family Program in Poughkeepsie

Poughkeepsie, New York
Extended Family Lutheran Care Center's Foster Family Program will become a reality in Poughkeepsie this fall. This is a demonstration project sponsored by New York State, and it is designed to help keep seniors with disabilities from being placed in nursing homes. Instead, they reside in the homes of people in the community who are recruited to provide room and board for such persons. Lutheran Care Center at Concord Village in Poughkeepsie is finalizing with NYSDOH and Dutchess County to become such a provider. Lutheran Care Center would recruit Foster Families, train them, assure that the home environments are appropriate for the seniors, and provide case management service. Once the final approval is received, Lutheran Care Center will begin recruiting potential Foster Families. For more information contact Falisia Cotten at (845) 486-9494 x103
